'Switch' applications

As a sponsor of medicines you may wish to submit a switch application to the National Drugs and Poisons Scheduling Committee (NDPSC) to alter the medicine’s classification (e.g. from prescription only to pharmacist only, or from pharmacy only to open selling).

Scheduling issues are complex. A detailed knowledge of State and Commonwealth law and an understanding of the operation of the NDPSC are required. An appreciation of how medicines are used in the community and a thorough understanding of the pharmacology of the active ingredients are essential.

Members of our team have been closely involved in the regulation and scheduling of medicines over many years. We can advise on how to frame your application to maximise the chances of success, or we can compile and submit the application and liaise with the NDPSC on your behalf.
